The Rohan Palace in Strasbourg
The Rohan Palace is located in the city center of Strasbourg, next to the cathedral. It now houses three museums:
The Palais de Rohan is a 15-minute walk from the hotel via rue Général de Castelnau.
- The Museum of Decorative Arts : it presents a collection of ceramics, goldsmiths and furniture, as well as a timepiece with vestiges of the first or second astronomical clock of the Strasbourg cathedral.
- The Museum of Fine Arts : presents a beautiful collection of paintings from the fourteenth century to the nineteenth century (Botticelli, Giotto, Memling, El Greco, Canaletto, Correggio, Corot, Van Dyck, Goya, Rubens ...).
- The Archaeological Museum : installed since the end of the 19th century in the basement of the Rohan Palace. This museum is one of the richest in France in its field, that of "National Antiquities". It proposes to discover the most distant past of Alsace, from prehistory (- 600 000 years) to the dawn of the Middle Ages (800 AD).
